We like and use Kevin Cashman's (Leadership From the Inside-Out) definition of leadership.

Definition: Leadership (v): Authentically self-expressing to create value.

• Authenticity (truth, awareness, transparency, being human)
• Self-expression (speaking up, creating, courage, risk, purpose)
• Creating value (more than results, common interest vs. personal interest, enriching life vs. depleting life)
